The Nigerian federal government has taken a huge step to change the Nigeria Broadcasting Code (NBC) to terminate the production of Nigerian music videos and movies out the country.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed paid a visit to the headquarters of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) on saturday 15th July 2017 and he made this known.

“This government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria. “We cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria. “The Broadcasting Code and the Advertising Code are very clear on this. “For you to classify a product as a Nigerian product, it must have a certain percentage of Nigerian content,”

he said.

Now people this is the deal will this new change by the FG of Nigeria help the career of acts like Wizkid, Davido, Tekno and list of others who have foreign deal and will definitely need to shoot their music videos in a specific location which Nigeria might not have or actors who have Hollywood deal and definitely need to shoot abroad what will then happen.?

But on the other point of view it will better showcase Nigeria’s culture and her heritage to the world and help provide employment to the youths.
